Dear Scouters, Welcome to the Rainbow Council, Boy Scouts of America. We serve more than 10,000 youth members and 2,400 adult volunteers in the three county area of Will, Grundy and Kankakee. Despite the news we hear goodness is not dead! We have so much to be truly hopeful for and thankful about. Silently and without acclaim a long chain of events occurred this year that has magically touched the lives of millions of children in our country. More than 1.5 million registered volunteers boldly stood up for the values of family, patriotism and good citizenship! Many of those are you the dedicated volunteers of the Rainbow Council. As you serve youth to become our leaders of tomorrow, I strongly encourage you to become trained in Scouting. After many years of Scouting I have found that the Scouting Program demands that that we are trained, continue to receive training and never assume that things cannot be improved. Ensure that every leader receives both Fast Start and Basic Training. In addition every experienced leader should become involved in other ongoing training such as Philmont Training Center, Woodbadge, Winter Workshop for Scouters, Commissioner Conference and Roundtables. This will help you to provide the best program to the youth of your unit/district/council. It is with the desire to provide a quality Scouting Program in the Rainbow Council that this website was created. If you would like something added to help you serve the needs of your scouts please send email to webmaster@rainbowcouncilbsa.org When you look for a Council that is volunteer driven you should look to our Council, because our task will never be done by a few paid dedicated individuals. What we have today and what we will have tomorrow will be driven by the teamwork that exists in the Rainbow Council. Your Friend in Scouting, Steven L. Miller Scout Executive |
